Santarsiero wins state rep seat

By CHRIS ENGLISH
Bucks County Courier Times

In a battle between Lower Makefield supervisors, Democrat Steve Santarsiero topped Republican Pete Stainthorpe to win the state representative seat being vacated by longtime Republican incumbent Dave Steil, according to unofficial results. The results were with 26 of 28 precincts reporting.

A former attorney, Santarsiero recently resigned his teaching position at Bensalem High School when the school board denied his request for an unpaid leave of absence to run for office. He had taken an unpaid leave last year to run for Bucks County commissioner and narrowly lost to Republican incumbent Charley Martin.

Stainthorpe owns a marketing company he runs from his home. Both candidates vowed to work hard for reform in Harrisburg.

Stainthorpe is the only Republican on the Lower Makefield board.
