The county Republican Party barely hung on to third place to hold their majority. At the same time, Democrats took the outright majority in a number of municipalities, Morrisville, Warminster, and Doylestown. We also picked up municipal seats across the county in Hulmeville, Lower Makefield, Newtown Boro, Nockamixon, Northampton, Penndel, Perkasie, Plumstead, Quakertown, Springfield, Trumbaursville, and Yardley. And most significantly, while we were taking seats from the Republicans, we did not lose a single municipal seat in even one township or borough anywhere in the county – not one lost seat in 54 municipalities.

We now have a terrific new minority commissioner who will be a tremendous advocate for the people of Bucks County and who is committed to being a proactive leader and responsible watchdog. We wanted more, we gave it a hell of race, and are extremely proud of Steve Santarsiero and Diane Marseglia as well as all our row candidates, Kathryn Boockvar, Cynthia Philo, Fred Viskovich, and Dr. Polly Beere.

This was a very close election. The county commissioner results show a county split very evenly down the middle. We hope the Republicans react to that close vote by recognizing that Bucks County has evolved – we are no longer a one party town, not by a long shot - and it is time to be more inclusive and reach out to a wider circle for advice, expertise, and assistance when it comes to serving the people’s needs. We are ready to do our part and our many municipal victories have given us numerous opportunities to lead.

Thank you to everyone who worked hard to make these victories possible. You have made a difference in the leadership of our county and our communities and Democrats should be proud of all we have accomplished together.
